Anthracite Filter Media are specialized filtration materials designed for the effective removal of turbidity and suspended solids (SS). Due to its lighter specific gravity compared to Filter Sand, Anthracite is commonly used alongside Filter Sand in dual-media filtration systems, enabling the formation of reverse grain layers after backwashing.

Overview

Anthracite is type of mineral extracted from Coal mines. Anthracite is finest/ best mineral used in water treatment industries and many more for different purpose. Anthracite coal has high carbon content and low soluble impurities and is also suitable for various industrial manufacturing processes. Anthracite plays an effective role in pharmaceutical, waste water treatment industries.

Crushed anthracite coal makes an excellent medium density filtration media. Used in various water filtration systems & pressure filters. The reason why Anthracite being used in Water treatment industry is because of reduction of backwash water rates, higher service longer filter runs, extends the the shelf life of the filter beds. Anthracite is much expensive as compare to other minerals i.e. Quartz Sand, River Sand (Brown), Pebbles & Gravels. In Anthracite the lower Carbon content means the low quality of the material and the high level of carbon content means the high quality of Anthracite.

Anthracite is also been imported from different countries for the best quality and purity. The bigger exporter for Anthracite is Australia, China, Indonesia, Russia,  Philippines etc. The main parameter for which the best quality of Anthracite is known as the “Carbon Content”.  We Export/ Premium grades anthracite which, by virtue of having a highly porous morphology, offer excellent removal of suspended matters which may escape from the primary treatment stage. Since the specific gravity is lighter than that of Filter Sand, it is much used in combination with Filter Sand in dual-media filtration, to consist reverse grain layers after backwashing.
